The Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE) in Garching near Munich is one of the world's leading institutes for earth-bound and space-based experimental astronomy, with its fields of work infrared and submillimeter astronomy, high energy astronomy, optical and interpretative astronomy. Similarly to other occupations in industry, training as an industrial mechanic (m/w/d) lasts three and a half years and takes place dually, i.e. alternating between the vocational school and the training centre. In our training workshop and in the various workshops of the institute, you will be trained on the most modern technical basis in the field of precision equipment construction.
