The trend towards sustainability requires the development of future products that are efficient to build and operate and have minimal impact on the environment. The low losses in electric machines compared to internal combustion engines additionally underline the need for higher efficiency of the entire drivetrain and its subcomponents. A well-designed oil system should maximise the use of available resources and optimize consumers to minimize waste. One possibility for increasing efficiency is to replace the flat lubrication of the gear by spray lubrication of the gears in order to reduce the flatsch losses. Several parameters of this spray cooling influence the cooling performance. To better understand this effect, this work is initiated. The aim of the work is to develop a method for evaluating the efficiency of spray cooling in transmissions by means of particle-based simulation.

Your tasks Construction of a 3D simulation model by means of a SPH code as an image of a test stand structure Development of simulation methods to model spray cooling and to calculate the effects on heat transport with high accuracy Comparison of different spray cooling variants Compensation of simulation results with test results

That's what you bring Studies in mechanical engineering or comparable, ideally at the end of your Bachelor's or Master's degree

First practical experience in the field of CFD simulation (e.g. PreonLab, StarCCM+, etc.)

In-depth knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics

Own initiative, resilience and a structured way of working

Advanced English knowledge for international cooperation and good German knowledge

Did TRATON awaken your interest? We look forward to your meaningful application!
