We are looking for a creative and tech-savvy Senior Embedded & FPGA Developer (f/m/d) to join our dedicated team and help develop best-in-class digital hunting and nature observation devices. ZEISS Hunting & Nature is currently undergoing an exciting transformation process: in order to position ourselves more dynamically, customer-oriented and future-oriented, we are transferring the company from the ZEISS Group into an independent unit with an investor. The new unit exclusively develops and distributes the innovative optical products for hunters, birders and outdoor enthusiasts of the ZEISS brand.

For you as a Senior Embedded & FPGA Developer (f/m/d), this means the opportunity to shape our product portfolio in flat hierarchies and develop innovative digital solutions for our customers.

Contribute to the electronics and software architecture for next-generation digital hunting and nature observation devices.

Drive innovative solutions for technical challenging and resource-constrained embedded imaging systems.

Design, implement and optimize FPGA-based image processing pipelines for real-time video and image enhancement applications.

Develop software embedded in C/C++ for microcontrollers, SoCs and bare-metal systems.

Design, implement and maintain low-level software components, device drivers and hardware abstraction layers.

Collaborate close with electronics, image processing, optics, software and systems engineering teams to define system architecture and technical requirements.

Guide internal and external development partners and contribute to technical decision-making throughout the product lifecycle.

Work according to agile development processes using modern engineering methods, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps. practices

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Science or a related field.

Several years of experience in embedded systems development for commercial products.

Strong experience with FPGA development using VHDL, Verilog or HLS and related tools like Vivado.

Proven programming microcontrollers and bare-metal embedded systems in C/C++.

Experience implementing image and video processing on FPGA platforms, ideally with thermal imaging sensors.

Good understanding of digital electronics, high-speed interfaces, memory architecture and SoC-based designs.

Practical experience with embedded Linux development (Yocto or similar) or real-time operating systems.

Structured, hands-on and solution-oriented working style.

Strong communication and teamwork skills in interdisciplinary teams development.

Good English skills, both written and spoken. German is a plus.
