To implement our Group-wide AI vision, we are building a new in-house AI team. We are looking for an experienced Lead AI Engineer / Lead Developer (m/w/d) with a focus on Large Language Models (LLMs), scalable system architectures and production-ready AI applications. You are responsible for the technological basis for all future AI products of the JDC Group – from intelligent consultants to document processing to central AI platforms. You take a key role in building the team, shape our technical orientation and develop solutions with real business impact. Your tasks: Technical direction of a newly created group-wide AI team (up to 6 people) Architecture, development and scaling of AI-assisted applications – e.g.: AI Advisor (digital, AI-assisted insurance consulting) AVB Companion (intelligent analysis and response to insurance conditions) Document processing and automated classification

Building and Responsibility of a Company-wide AI platform – focusing on LLMs, RAG architectures, agentic systems and modular pipelines Conception and implementation of production-ready LLM and agent systems Tool selection and infrastructure responsibility (on-prem or cloud, e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP – no specification) Integration into existing applications (.NET stack) and API-based system landscapes Building a scalable architecture for several business units (central AI infrastructure + decentralized use cases) Professional coaching of developers and building a powerful team Close cooperation with IT, departments and board – from idea to productive use

At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in software development, data science or AI engineering – ideally focusing on productive AI systems Experience in the construction and operation of scalable, productive AI architectures Know-how in modern AI architectures, in particular: Large Language Models (e.g. GPT, Claude, Mistral, LLaMA, etc.) Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and Semantic Search Agent systems and tool orchestration Prompt Engineering, Chaining and Structured Output Formats Fine tuning or adaptation of models to your own data

Experience in the development of modular, predictable and scalable AI pipelines (LLMOps/MLOps) Experience with vector databases and retrieval systems Experience with Coding Agents and AI-based software development, e.g.: Claude Code OpenAI Codex or comparable agentic development environments

Very good knowledge of Python and ideal experience with .NET (C#) and TypeScript/JavaScript Experience in cloud infrastructures (Azure, AWS, GCP) Architecture strength, strategic thinking and hands-on mentality Experience in team leadership or technical mentoring Very good knowledge of German and English
