Number: MER0003UXK Mercedes-Benz AG is a pioneer in the automotive industry that continuously strives for technological breakthroughs. At the Sindelfingen site, our ''Future Digital Engineering'' department focuses on the development and optimization of structural components through advanced calculation methods. In our international team, we work at the interface of research and innovation to increase the performance of our vehicles through lightweight design concepts and efficient structural solutions. At the heart of our activity is the application of the finite element method (FEM) for detailed structural analyses. We perform both linear and non-linear simulations and cover a wide range of stress scenarios, from static load cases to complex dynamic events. After the internship there is the possibility to continue your practical experience through a scientific deepening in the form of a final thesis. This gives you the chance to combine your theoretical knowledge with practical application and gain deeper insights into the interdisciplinary working of automotive development. Your tasks: incorporation into existing FE models and their modification to improve model quality
Development of scripts for evaluating FE calculations using Python or MATLAB
Active participation in carrying out FE calculations, which can include both quasi-static and dynamic analyses
Possibility to expand expertise through insights into adjacent areas and participation in in interdisciplinary projects
What we offer: Practical experience: insights into the latest developments in vehicle technology and the opportunity to participate in real projects that have a direct impact on the future of mobility
Innovative working environment: working in an international team that focuses on innovation and continuous improvement, and access to the latest technologies and tools
Final thesis: option for the continuation of the projects started in the internship in a final thesis, with the possibility of practical application and deepening theoretical knowledge
Corporate culture: a dynamic and supportive working environment that appreciates diversity and encourages creative solutions
The activity can begin from February 2026.
