Enabler for smaller, more powerful and more energy-efficient microchips

Work where the morning arises. About 80 percent of all microchips worldwide are manufactured using ZEISS technologies. As the heart of any electronically controlled system, they are no longer to think away from our everyday life – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and solutions for process control, ZEISS enables the production of increasingly smaller, more powerful and more energy-efficient microchips – and thus decisively shapes the age of microelectronics and nanoelectronics with its innovations.

With us you have the opportunity to optimally connect your studies and practice and to actively collaborate on exciting projects. So you gain valuable experiences, build your network and develop both professionally and personally. The exact assignment of the test data to the position on the component is decisive for the ultrasonic testing of large components for lithography systems. As part of your final work, you will equip an ultrasonic sensor with a compact position system, develop a suitable housing for 3D printing, and create a software solution with approaches from machine learning, which is linked to the ultrasound data and position information in a CAD model. Specifically, your thesis includes: selection and integration of suitable position sensors (e.g. IMU, optical or magnetic tracking systems) into an existing ultrasound tester

Design and design of an ergonomic housing with sensor mounts – designable for 3D printing

Interface development for detecting and storing synchronous ultrasonic and position tracks

Development of a software (e.g. in Python) for fusion of the measurement data - Ultrasound scans are placed exactly on the virtual 3D CAD model of the test optics

Visualization: Measurement data can then be displayed in the CAD model – defects are precisely located with artificial intelligence

Documentation of the solution path, presentation and validation of results

Studies Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Physics or Similar Directions

Interest in sensor technology, measurement technology and additive manufacturing (3D printing)

first experience in CAD (e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion 360), Python or another programming environment desirable

Joy in practical work (prototyping, construction of brass hardware) and analytical challenges

Reliability, self-initiative and fun on interdisciplinary issues

Sounds exciting? Then become part of #teamZEISS and shape the future with us! Please submit your complete application documents (lifetime, certificates etc.) to us. JOBV1_EN
