On behalf of the former Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK), the competence center “PtX Lab Lausitz – Practice Laboratory for Power and Fundamental Materials from Green Hydrogen” was founded in 2021 by the ZUG gGmbH and is constantly evolving. It supports policy, business, society and science on the path to greenhouse gas neutrality by linking the electricity sector with transport and industrial sectors (PtX). The PtX Lab Lausitz acts as a knowledge platform, impulse provider and contact person for industry, politics and science. The focus of the work is the introduction of an environmentally sound production and use of PtX products. The PtX Technology department focuses on processes and processes for the production of current-based chemical basic and fuels as well as the integration of corresponding plants into electricity and hydrogen networks. As an expert for Carbon Dioxide Removal (m/w/d), your thematic focus is on the market upheaval of various methods for removing CO2 from the atmosphere and deriving and communicating appropriate policy recommendations. Not only do you participate in PtX technology, you also bring your expertise across the field into various projects of the think tank.

You analyze the state and the further development of methods for removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere (e.g. reforestation, biocarbon, DACCS), develop evaluation criteria and evaluate the procedures based on these criteria. You identify negative emissions needs in line with the objectives of the Paris Climate Agreement In particular, you combine the topic of carbon dioxide removal with the high market of electricity-based power and base materials and the expected residual emissions, guides needs and potentials and unfolds scenarios for a greenhouse gas-neutral future. You will follow legislative procedures in the field of CDR and PtX, analyze technological, regulatory and economic challenges and identify policy action windows Based on your analyses, you develop recommendations for action, policy instruments and strategies to accelerate the market upheaval of CDR and PtX procedures.
