As a Site Reliability Engineer, together with System Administrators and Network Reliability Engineers, you develop and operate our defense platforms to protect our hosting products and infrastructure. In addition to the classic DDoS defense, topics such as a modern Web Application Firewall, IDS/IPS, Zero Trust Strategies and a Content Delivery Network (CDN) are among the core tasks of our products. In a culture that places great emphasis on creative ideas, agile working methods, self-initiative and co-determination, the following exciting tasks await you: Development and adaptation of the logic to prevent DDoS attacks on network and application levels. Optimization of pipelines for automatic detection and mitigation of attack patterns, as well as their reporting. Support system administration to automate operating processes and rollouts. Provide interfaces for other teams to integrate into the hosting products. Administration and removal of highly available, complex and demanding infrastructures, including participation in a readiness to call. Supporting the set goals through an efficient operating architecture, active lifecycle management and lean processes in an agile DevOps environment. Qualifications You studied computer science or completed a comparable vocational training. In addition, you have a strong interest in security issues, good networking skills and the following: Multiannual experience in the system-oriented development of highly available software artifacts in at least one of the programming or script languages: Go, C, Python, PHP, Bash. Experience with Nginx ideally combined with Lua as a script language for extending the application logic. Practical knowledge about the operation of Nginx as reverse proxy or web application firewall. Infrastructure as code and automation is an important part of your own work. Knowledge about BGP, Flowspec, Anycast Routing, as well as the basic understanding of network protocols on Linux systems are not strange to you. Good analytical skills to evaluate DDoS attacks, implement countermeasures and continuously develop our defense platforms. Like us, you are a fan of open source, especially Linux.
