We are looking for Innovation and Relations Management (IRM) at the next possible time, limited to 2 years, one/one Innovation Manager (m/d) für ingenieurwissenschaften The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) stands for excellent research, teaching and innovation. In the Innovation and Relations Management (IRM) service unit, we actively shape the transfer of knowledge and technology between science and industry. In order to strengthen our team, we are looking for a dedicated personality as an innovation manager, who mainly supervises engineering topics and drives technology transfer to the industry.

1. Consciousness and awareness of the innovation and technology transfer process You are the first contact person(s) for researchers and regularly conduct discussions with doctoral students, academic staff and management personnel to identify and promote innovation potential at an early stage (“Walking the Hall”). You explain the innovation process as well as the transfer and support offers of KIT and contribute to the visibility of these services. You represent KIT and the transfer activities on internal and external events, in particular with regard to energy.
2. Technology screening You identify promising technologies and project ideas in close cooperation with researchers from various areas of the IRM service unit. You evaluate technologies with regard to their economic viability and innovation levels. You are structuring and clustering technologies and project ideas to develop individual approaches or whole themes.
3. Networking, partner search and project initiation and coordination You actively build networks matching the topics of KIT and cultivate them, in particular as part of identified technology clusters. You develop business cases and recovery strategies for selected projects and accompany their implementation. You market technologies through targeted corporate address, trade fair visits and internal events such as corporate visits or the Innovation Day. You design and implement new formats for the external representation of technology transfer activities. You take over the coordination of transfer projects, e.g. within the framework of the Innovation Fund. You process industrial enquiries in close coordination with the institutes, the IRM and the Vice-President for Transfer and International. You are the central point of contact for companies and are responsible for this in a sustainable manner in cooperation with the KIT Business Club. You actively accompany contract and licensing negotiations. You bring your expertise into interinstitutional discussions initiated by the Vice President for Transfer and International or IRM.

Complete university studies (Master/Diplom), ideally related to chemistry, physics, chemistry, energy, process engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics or other engineering, economic engineering or business informatics Experience in technology transfer, innovation management or cooperation with research institutions Embossed communication and network skills Own initiative, strategic thinking and team capacity Very good knowledge of German and English in word and writing
