The Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) is a federal scientific and technical authority based in Berlin. Our activities in materials science, materials technology and chemistry focus on the technical safety of products and processes. In the European Project MaterialsCommons, BAM develops a federal digital research infrastructure for materials sciences together with international partners. A central focus is on the establishment of semantic interoperability and FAIR-compliant and AI-usable data and knowledge structures as the basis for a networked research and innovation landscape. The focus of the activity is the concept of semantic knowledge models for digital material research at the interface of material sciences and knowledge engineering in the context of federal data infrastructures. Together with scientific and industrial partners, technical requirements are collected, analyzed and converted into formal knowledge representations along concrete use cases. These form the basis for the development and integration of semantic models in ontologies and knowledge graphs as a semantic layer of federal data ecosystems. Very well completed academic studies (Master / Diploma) in materials science, physics, computer science, data science, information science or comparable, supplemented by a very good doctorate Detectable expertise in Ontology Engineering and Semantic Technologies as well as practical experience with ontology development processes and toolchains (e.g. Protégé, ROBOT, ODK, Git-based workflows) Experience in the development of semantic interoperability solutions based on established top-level ontologies, in particular BFO and PMDco (customers of EMMO of advantage) Experience in the moderation and design of interdisciplinary workshops with scientific and/or industrial stakeholders for structured demand recovery Detectable scientific publication and presentation activities in the field of semantic technologies, data infrastructures or digital (materials) Science English knowledge in word and writing Impressed capacity for analytical thinking, conceptual modelling and self-responsible work in complex scientific environments Good communication and information behaviour, targeted and structured working methods, initiative / willingness to use, willingness to decide and ability as well as conceptual, strategic and innovative thinking skills
