Number: MER00043SB Against the background of increasing demands on the use of joining technology in the electric drive train, the laser material processing shows a large application potential. In the Lasertechnology and Zelltechnikum team in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim we develop and qualify new laser processing methods for applications in battery cells and modules, e-motors and transmissions. In our own application laboratory, new ideas and system technology components are tested and developed in practice. These challenges come to you: Introduction to the state of the art (including literature research) and plant engineering

Self-performing laser welding tests

Evaluation, interpretation and presentation of experimental and measurement data

Materials engineering studies in metallography laboratory

Use of different measurement and analysis techniques

Conception, design and realization of experimental and test structures

Experimental securing of new approaches and ideas

The internship can start from July/August 2026.

Studies in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, physics or physical engineering, aerospace technology, optics or laser technology, materials engineering or a comparable degree course

Secure knowledge of German and English in word and writing

Safe handling of MS-Office and a 3D CAD program

Ideally, first theoretical or practical experience in the field of laser technology and/or its application in material processing

Structured and independent working, analytical and conceptual skills and a high degree of reliability

Teamability, self-initiative and performance
