With Mercedes-Benz AG, the vehicle manufacturer is one of the largest providers of premium and luxury cars and vans. In Group Research & Mercedes-Benz Cars Development (RD), we design the automotive generations of the future. We mean innovative products with the highest quality and efficient development processes. We are already working on vehicles that will secure the technology leadership in the future. The battery development center is responsible for the development of HV batteries in Mercedes-Benz AG. In advance, these include the concept development with suitable cell and module technologies and their protection by design, prototypes and test methods. We are now looking for motivated students for a variety of exciting topics within the development of battery cells. The main topics are: Development and design of solutions for cell functions and design of cell components Investigation of new materials, materials and technologies Experimental implementation, analysis and optimization of cell components Principle investigations and qualification of new joining procedures and their marginal conditions Structure of cell prototypes - from simple dummy component to functional cell Ideally, you have an engineering background, are at the end of your studies and are looking for a mandatory practice. You get an interdisciplinary topic that you can edit independently. There are many ways to take responsibility and face new challenges. A team-wide collaboration with experts allows you to gain insights into the development and production of battery cells, to have an interdisciplinary exchange and to look beyond the plate edge. The activity can begin from February 2026.
