Number: MER000428G Mercedes-Benz Cars Operations is responsible for car production in a global network with over 30 plants. In the area of MO/QPC, we are consistently pushing forward the digitization of quality – with the aim of intelligently networking and making data from development, production and the field usable. The focus is on MBQX (Mercedes-Benz Quality eXperience) – an AI-based platform that combines distributed quality data from numerous systems and makes it available in a central workspace. This enables relationships to be seen, analyses accelerated and informed decisions. Our vision: Detect quality problems faster, identify patterns automatically and derive sustainable solutions data-based. We continuously develop MBQX in the agile environment – focusing on machine learning, intelligent search and analysis functions and AI-based assistance systems. As an intern, you do not work on a theoretical idea, but on a real, data-driven solution with international impact. You connect data science, artificial intelligence and industrial application – just what modern data-driven innovation is. Your responsibilities in our interdisciplinary team of experts: Prototyping of AI features for MBQX, e.g. AI Summaries and cluster suggestions for fault images

Development of Similarity/Clustering approaches to detect identical error images despite different descriptions

Data Analysis & Feature Engineering on real quality data (development/production/field) incl. Support for system connections (read & write)

Evaluation & Iteration: Set metrics/tests, evaluate results and improve models with practical feedback

Cooperation with UX/UI & quality roles so that AI solutions are really used in everyday life

Active preparation and preparation of documents, workshops and their results

Afterwards there is the possibility to supplement a successfully completed internship with a final thesis in the same subject field. The activity can begin from September 2026.

Studying a technical subject – for example computer science, data science, data analytics, business intelligence, business informatics, mathematics or comparable, ideally related to software development and/or data analysis

Good knowledge of German and English in word and writing

Very good Python knowledge for data analytics, prototyping and AI experiments

First practical experience in frontend and backend development (e.g. web apps, prototypes, university projects)

Experience in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence (data processing, evaluations, visualizations)

Safe handling of React (Frontend) and Flask (Backend) or high level of readiness in these technologies

Experience in handling Git and ideally GitHub Pages or comparable deployment setups

Embossed analytical and structured thinking and a strategic, solution-oriented approach

Team skills, initiative and commitment – you are happy to take responsibility for your topics
