Engineer – Innovative Functions of Grid Analysis (m/w/d)
As a transmission system operator, we secure the power supply for 11 million people – and ensure that the energy transition succeeds. More than 1,600 employees make our region an innovative power hub in the heart of Europe with a dynamic, intelligent network ready for the future and Baden-Württemberg. The task of system operation is the safe, environmentally friendly and efficient operation of the transmission network and the control zone of TransnetBW as part of the European network. The System Management department is responsible for the operational network and system management and thus for the safety of power supply in Baden-Württemberg. In addition to operational operations, we develop the rules, concepts and solutions for the network and system management of the future and thus make a central contribution to the success of the energy transition. The automatic network analysis is a decisive IT component for secure network operation, as it provides the essential basis for the decision-making of the transmission network. The challenges of the energy transition require a significant expansion of the range of functions – from dynamics to probabilistics to real-time optimization of the network state – also beyond the borders of Baden-Württemberg: both at national and European level. Our own cloud-native platform MSHIP will serve as the basis for network analysis and other operationally critical applications. We currently build these in our own data centers iteratively and incrementally as a real-time-capable on-prem, self-hosted, self-run IT/OT system. Engineer – Innovative Functions of Network Analysis (m/w/d) Reference number: 24817

You shape the long-term technical strategy of network analysis for the TransnetBW, taking into account the relevant activities and developments at national and European level and in the field of research & development. You represent TransnetBW in the construction of a cross-network, comprehensive German platform for network analysis and thus provide the basis for the future secure operation of the German power transmission network. With your conceptual preliminary work of innovative network analysis functions, you will design the implementation – from conception to realization – together with the corresponding Macro Service Leads of the MSHIP platform. You work closely with operating system management engineers as well as other specialist areas and participants in the MSHIP program and are a key link to the interconnection of technical and IT. You prepare complex technical topics to be addressed and design suitable training and training documents for the later users.
You have a master's degree in electrical engineering, energy engineering, energy management or a comparable degree program. You bring multi-year conceptual experience as well as practical knowledge in network analysis and/or operational system management. You can set yourself to different groups and understand how to communicate properly. You show high motivation to advance themes and have fun in self-organized teamwork.
