The St. Ansgar Hospital Höxter is an academic teaching hospital with 371 beds in 11 specialist clinics and two document clinics. The Medical Clinic II has 45 beds and covers the entire spectrum of internal medicine with the focus on gastroenterology, hepatology, infectiology, diabetics and nutritional medicine. Endoscopy is a central focus of the clinic, which reproduces a very broad spectrum diagnostically and interventionally at the highest level and with the latest technology. In addition to standard endoscopy (ÖGD, coloscopy), interventional endoscopy, including mucosectomies and endoscopic full-wall resections (FTRD), endosonographies with fine needle punctures and transgastral/transduodenal drainage system, ERCP's (including RFA's in gall vein/pankreas tumors), pTC's and capsule endoscopes are carried out. The clinic provides an extensive endoscopic functional diagnosis (pH-meter/impact measurement, manometry, H2 assay) as well as an ultrasound laboratory, where abdomen/thyroid gland sonographies, duplex sonographies of the vessels, contrast medium-reinforced sonographies (CEUS) and 2-D shear wave elastomers of the liver are carried out. The clinic includes special ambulances for gastroenterological and hepatological diseases. As part of the implementation of clinical-scientific projects, doctoral studies are also awarded by the chief physician.
