Your job – where the future flows. In the Wupper Association, around 450 colleagues, we design effective environmental protection directly in front of our doorstep every day. With passion we protect the valuable resource water and preserve habitats for plants, animals and people. Whether in our waters, in the valley blocks or from the desk – with technology, knowledge and experience we create something really meaningful: a clean and vital environment for the region. We are now looking for a*n for 3 years

Your tasks • Your profile • What we offer

Participation in building the planning data space: You analyze data requirements, interfaces and formats, integrate real-time, historical and climate-related data sets and participate in standards, metadata concepts and user roles. Regionalization of precipitation from climate projections: You develop gridded, bias-adjusted precipitation fields in radar format and use analogue methods for producing consistent temporally spatial precipitation fields. Development of regional IDF relations: You select suitable reference data sets, analyze extremes statistically, guide regional intensity-duration-hypermanence relationships, and start needs-based visualizations as well as scripts. Automation of climate projections: You merge the developed methods into scripts, perform function tests and document the results so that municipalities can independently update new climate scenarios. Simulation of water availability: You develop automated interfaces between climate projections and water balance models and workflows for data preprocessing, simulation, and provision of results in the DataSphere. Participation in best practice: You define standards for the use of climate projections, starting conditions, evaluation windows and attributes and thus contribute to a consistent after-use of the data in the planning data space.

Qualification: You have a degree as a Dipl.-Ing. or M.Sc. of meteorology or a comparable engineering or geoscientific technical discipline. Applying expertise: You have well-founded knowledge in climate modeling, precipitation analysis, bias adjustment and statistical procedures, such as extreme value statistics or IDF analysis. Analysis of data: You have experience in dealing with spatial and temporal data sets – ideally with radar or climate projection data – and are sure to deal with script and programming languages such as Python or R for data processing, automation and visualization. Models and systems understand: You bring an understanding of water balance or hydrological models and you can work in interfaces, workflows and data platforms or geodata infrastructures, such as WISKI Web, DataSphere or ArcGIS. Analytical work: You design complex data processes structured, think analytically and develop efficient solutions for their operationalization. Designing cooperation: You like to work in the team, communicate safely with project partners, support training and have an interest in applied climate follow-up research as well as the further development of digital tools for climate-responsive planning.

Our investment in your future - we pay 4.25 % of your salary to the Rhine supplementary pension fund and thus contribute to your private pension

Additional insurance: We grant additional insurance such as chef's treatment or dental supplement with €19.19 per month

Mobile work: We offer you the flexibility to make up to 40% of your weekly working hours your working environment according to your needs – e.g. at home or in the café

Individual working time design: Whether early retirement or long sleepers, whether a doctor's appointment or a care short pass - flexibly divide your weekly working time
