Operations Engineer Contribution & Playout Center

The ARD star point is a technical service provider of the ARD and offers comprehensive IT and broadcast IT services. It supports the ARD in the exchange, production and dissemination of media content and radio signals. The Contribution- & Playout-Center (CPoC), as a functional unit of the ARD star point, is the gateway and Operation Center for the national and international program exchange of the ARD and supports the handling of major and special events. The CPoC is also responsible for the programme dissemination of ARD TV and radio programmes via satellite, Internet and the transfer to broadcasters. In your role, you actively participate in national and international program transfer. In doing so, you take on diverse and exciting tasks: You are responsible for coordinating, implementing and monitoring international broadcasting in the context of the Union of European broadcasters (EBU/UER) You are responsible for the national television programme exchange of the ARD in cooperation with the ZDF and ARTE You monitor and control national and international transfers via video-over-IP networks and modern distribution platforms You take over Satellite News Gathering (SNG) activities and are responsible for monitoring and controlling our satellite systems You independently plan resources, determine signal and transmission paths and anticipate device parameters You independently ensure the quality of our transmissions, analyse errors and direct interference measures You maintain the multiplex and compression technology of digital program dissemination and streaming infrastructure In the event of a malfunction, You act sovereignly and coordinate all necessary steps – both in German and in English – with internal and external partners

You have successfully completed an engineering degree or have a comparable technical qualification You control the broadcast, satellite and DVB technology safely and well-founded You bring comprehensive experience in handling IP-based infrastructures for audio and video transmission You work out with IT-based production systems Also under time pressure, you remain stressable and act focused You set clear priorities and perform tasks reliably and on time to complete You communicate in English and German – both oral and written In addition, stand up safely and friendly, communicate clearly and solution-oriented. You work in a structured and self-responsible manner and bring technical connections to the point in a comprehensible manner. In challenging situations, you act, active and targeted.
