In the field of E/E Architecture and System Engineering, we are responsible for the comprehensive diagnostic software for testing and commissioning electronic control units and systems. The electric/electronics (EE) operation of modern vehicles at Mercedes-Benz is a complex process. We are currently facing the challenge of making processes more efficient and closing information gaps between the process steps. At the same time, AI approaches offer great potential for optimization. For this master thesis, we are looking for a dedicated personality that raises these potentials scientifically and develops a consistent AI strategy. Your tasks: Process analysis: You analyze existing processes and identify interfaces for AI applications. Framework Conception: You develop a structured concept that shows how AI technologies connect the process steps to a coherent overall process. Human-machine interaction: You define the role of man (human-in-the-loop) in this AI-based environment. Benefit assessment: You evaluate the practical added value of your framework based on specific applications. Challenges: You evaluate challenges and solutions associated with such a process change. The final topics will be discussed with the university, you and us. The activity can start from October 2026.

Course in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Business Informatics or Similar

Interest in machine learning, AI and data-driven error analysis

Good knowledge of German and English

Good knowledge of Python and common data science libraries (e.g. pandas, scikit-learn) of advantage

First experience in data analysis, modeling or signal/communication data of advantage

Analytical thinking and structured working

Individual initiative and motivation to work into complex systems
