The management of the outskirts comprises the management and steering of about 50 employees of the outskirts and the control center Neuses of the waterway and shipping center of the MDK. The outskirts of Neuses operate and maintains four locks and wehre as well as other smaller water-saving systems. The area also includes 40 kilometres of canal, starting with the Main, with its shores and 24 kilometres of dams, 14 administrative road bridges, 2 watercraft and the control center Neuses for remote control of the locks. The management of the outer district is responsible for the regular inspection of the facilities, the perception of the building management in the case of independent repair work or the representation of the client in the use of foreign companies. Construction measures of third parties on the canal are controlled by the external management to comply with the approval requirements.
