Senior Firmware Developer — Smartcard & Mobile Credentials (m/f/d)

Firmware development: implementation of C++ application layer firmware on a RTOS (Tasking, IPC, energy-conscious scheduling). Credential Logic: Development of application logic for existing (Mifare DESFire) and future standards: app/file model, access conditions, personalization and life cycle management. Networking: Integration of NFC/BLE/WLAN stacks and mobile credential workflows (Provisioning, HCE, Revocation). Embedded Secuirity: Interfaces to Secure Elements / SAMs for key storage and transaction outsourcing. Implementation of Secure Boot, signed/encrypted OTA and runtime protection at application level. Software maintenance: Extension and maintenance of internal software suites (C++, C#). Testing & CI/CD: Preparation of tests and CI/CD artifacts; Use of protocol dials and hardware debuggers for validation. Teamwork: Close cooperation with mobile, backend, hardware and QA teams; Creation of technical and safety-relevant documentation.

Experience: + 5 years of experience in embedded firmware development. Core competencies: Strong C++ experience for microcontrollers in resource-restricted environments and practical RTOS experience (Zephyr is advantageous). RFID/NFC: Practical RFID/NFC experience (ISO 14443, Mifare DESFire EVx preferred). Mobile Credentials: Experience with smartphone credential processes (Mobile Wallets, HCE, Provisioning). Security: Confidence with applied cryptography in embedded systems (Secure Messaging, AES/HMAC, Key Use), Secure Elements / SAM Integration, Secure Boot and OTA. Tools: Debugging capabilities (JTAG/SWD, Logic Analyzer) and experience with Embedded CI/CD. Languages: Good German and very good English skills. Nice to have: Deep experience in personalizing Mifare DESFire EVx, low-power design, mobile platform SDKs/APIs, knowledge of access control standards, security compliance (CRA, NIST, ETSI) and familiarity with Git, Jira and embedded test frameworks.
