Number: MER00048PX Autonomous Vehicles Run on More Than Code - Powered by Data, Driven by You! Become a part of our Team and help shape the future of mobility. ADAS Campaign Management is a self-service system with which Mercedes-Benz ADAS developers can collect real data from a defined fleet of test and customer vehicles to support the development, verification and validation of assistance and driving functions. Our team delivers the entry point of this chain: Through our web UI and cloud services, data collection orders are configured, vehicle fleets are assembled and rolled out as campaigns. From there, the orders run through further systems to the vehicle. Our contribution is the platform that makes complex data collection controllable and serviceable for professionals. We develop them, operate them and accompany the campaigns from the first requirement to the rollout. You support us in the following tasks: Implementation features: You implement Jira User Stories in our Services: Backend (Java/Spring Boot) and/or Frontend (Vue 3/TypeScript) including Tests and Code Review in the Merge Request.

Bugs hunting and troubleshooting: You reproducing reported errors, analysing logs across service boundaries, documenting root Cause and evidence cleanly on the ticket and delivering the fix.

Campaign Operations: You manage Vehicle Pools and roll ADAS data collection campaigns, or update them, independently to the productive environment, secured by four-eye principle and documented change steps.

Maintenance & DevOps: You keep our services up-to-date (Dependency updates, housekeeping) and support GitLab-CI pipelines, deployments (Helm/Kubernetes, Azure) and monitoring.

Thinking in the team: You are actively involved in SW design sessions, UX workshops and Story/Epic refinements, with questions, edge cases and your own solutions.

Use AI responsibly: You work with our AI agents and skills as a tool, check and answer every result yourself and help us to further improve these skills.

The activity can begin from December 2026.

Immatrikulation in Computer Science, Software Engineering, etc.; at least 3.–4. semester

Availability 16–18 h/week above minimum 6 months

Solid programming knowledge in at least one of the two worlds and readiness to the second:

Backend: Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, REST, Maven, PostgreSQL

Frontend: TypeScript, Vue 3 (or React/Angular with change readiness), HTML/CSS

Git & Branch/MR workflow and Code Reviews as a matter of course

Testing basic understanding: Unit/component tests (JUnit, Vitest/Cypress, Cucumber), derive test cases from acceptance criteria

German and English safe in word and font (document/tickets in English, usually in German)

Remarkable: DevOps basics: CI/CD-Pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes/Helm, Terraform, Azure; Ready to fix pipelines instead of just use

API/Contract-Denken: OpenAPI, versioning, backward compatibility

Log and Data Analysis: Evaluate Logs/CSV, Track Error Chains across Service Limits

Automotive/ADAS context

Care in operation: Campaign operations touches real vehicles – four-eye principle, checklists and change-document are mandatory, no guarantee

Structured error analysis: reproducibly bugs, collect evidence, name RootCause, only then fix – and document this comprehensible in the ticket

co-design instead of working: active participation in SW design sessions, UX workshops and Story/Epic refinements; question requirements, name edge cases, weigh alternatives

An office day per week should be possible to network you personally

Self-employment with escalation feeling: ask early instead of long to hang

We work consistently with AI assistance (Github Copilot CLI/IntelliJ Github Copilot Plugin/VS Code Github Copilot Plugin, own Agent-Skills).

You can explain what the generated code does and defend it in review

You verify results (tests, local run, logs), instead of ''fix it, fix it'' to repeat

You give context instead of symptoms: ticket, constraints, code posts, expected behavior

You recognize hallucinations and pull the tear line when the agent runs in circles

You take responsibility for any commit that bears your name – even if an AI has written it
