W2 Professorship for Hydraulic Engineering and/or Urban Water Management (m/f/d)

The Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS) is one of the largest practice-oriented universities in Bavaria and covers a wide range of subjects with the fields of technology, social and economic sciences, design and languages. We accompany around 9,300 students in more than 70 courses on their educational path. Job description: Water, environment and infrastructure are key pillars in climate protection and climate adaptation. Sustainable and cross-disciplinary concepts in the fields of civil engineering and urban rebuilding are an important focus on teaching and research at our faculty, which is highly appreciated both by the students and by our industrial partners. As a future body owner or future body owner, you will develop and represent the water engineering and/or settlement water management department in the field of civil engineering on the basis of the basics in water, including numerical methods.

The Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering offers outstanding framework conditions for carrying out research projects. Through the close interconnection with the “Sustainable and Intelligent Systems” doctoral centre and a project-based master's degree program in the field of research, you will find established multi-level structures to gain qualified scientific staff for the implementation of your innovative research ideas. You ideally have a completed civil engineering degree or an engineering degree with a focus on water construction, or settlement water management. In addition, you have practical experience and well-founded expertise, in particular in the fields of urban water management and/or structural water construction. An activity in relevant bodies and committees of civil engineering is welcomed in order to further impetus in the development of the subject area and the study offer at the university. Strengthening our activities in application-oriented research is part of your task. The further expansion of our already established contacts with industrial partners in water and water management is ideally at your heart. The following conditions must be fulfilled for the acceptance of the professorship at our university (Art. 57 para. 3 Bavarian University Innovation Act: completed university studies, preferably in a course relevant to the subject pedagogical aptitude which is usually demonstrated by experience in teaching and training special ability to scientific work that is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least five years of professional practice, which must be acquired after completion of university studies and must have been exercised by at least three years outside the higher education sector; times as a lecturer or a lecturer or as a scientific or artistic employee or as a scientific or artistic employee can only be counted up to two years; evidence of professional practice outside the higher education sector may be carried out in special cases by providing a significant proportion of professional activity in cooperation between the higher education institution and non-university professional practice over a period of at least five years.
