At the National Testing Centre for Unmanned Aviation Systems, open questions are explored interdisciplinary and solutions are developed up to demonstration/application maturity. The testing centre thus serves as a critical enabler for research, industry and authorities in the development of new technologies in the field of UAS and in the field of innovative/advanced air mobility. An important component is the combination of conventional airport operations with the testing and demonstration of UAS technologies that are implemented in Cochstedt. With the testing centre, DLR operates a highly innovative and unique research infrastructure throughout Europe.

In this position you take the central coordination of the bodywork of the institution. This includes the active participation of framework conditions for the testing of UAS – both professionally and in an advisory capacity for politics and authorities. You contribute to shaping important decisions on the further development of UAS at national and European level. In addition, you represent the institution in relevant bodies and committees and perform representative tasks. Your tasks Technical Management of the Board Management for UAS Development and design of a strategy process of UAS-Gremienmanagement for the testing centre Strengthening and maintaining the network of stakeholders from universities, businesses, research and development institutions, public institutions and other organisations Identify and analyze new trends and developments in unmanned aviation systems Representation of the institution and the DLR in scientific and economic bodies and organisations/associations Perception of representation and representation tasks of the institution

completed scientific university studies (Master/Diplom University) of engineering (e.g. aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, industrial engineering) with additional expertise in the field of development of strategy processes and/or forum work Or alternatively: completed academic studies (Master/Diplom Uni) of economics (e.g. air traffic management, strategic management, business administration, general management or technology management) with technical knowledge as far as possible from the aviation sector. Or other technical or strategic courses relevant to the activity proven experience of an exercised activity in a technical environment or a (technical) consultancy associated with sound knowledge and experience in project management and the creation of concepts and strategies very good, relevant expertise in unmanned aviation (ideally in the field of regulatorics) many years of experience in committee work, body management and/or consulting of politics, authorities and associations (ideally in international context) Experience in technology assessment and project acquisitions (in particular in the third-party/funding sector) very good English knowledge of word and writing readiness to carry out a reliability check according to § 7 Remuneration takes place according to qualification and task transfer up to 14 TVöD.
