Number: MER0003VQP We work in the field of total vehicle crash in passive safety. Our task is to protect the passengers in case of accidents as best as possible. To this end, we analyze and optimize the behaviour of the vehicle and passengers in different crash scenarios. These challenges come to you: Analysis of the occupant behavior in the pile crash: investigation of the biomechanical loads and movement sequences during lateral impact events. Influence of a passenger on passenger safety: assessment of the interactions between driver and passenger and their impact on the protection systems. Development of various concepts for optimising passenger protection. You work in an interdisciplinary team and use state-of-the-art simulation and evaluation methods. You have the opportunity to introduce your own ideas and actively contribute to the further development of security concepts. The activity can begin from April 2026.

Master's degree in automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, biomechanics, medical technology or a comparable technical/nature science course Funded understanding of musculoskeletal biomechanics (stressability, stress limits, typical injury mechanisms) Basic knowledge of crash dynamics and passenger safety, ideally related to side impact, dummy evaluation or real injury patterns First insights into vehicle structure behavior and restraint systems (e.g. belt systems, airbags) as well as their interaction with the passenger Technical understanding and affinity for accident mechanics, force profiles and complex movement processes Experience in biomechanical data analysis, including interpretation of measurement data and load curves Structured, analytical and independent operation Good communication skills and joy in interdisciplinary cooperation Additional information: We are looking forward to your online application with CV, lettering, certificates, current enrollment certificate with an indication of the semester and proof of the regular study period.
