Strategic leadership and further development You continue to develop foreign aid in a future-oriented manner and consistently align it with long-term objectives. You continuously evaluate, update and implement the foreign aid strategy. You position international aid strategically and take into account global trends, developments and challenges of humanitarian aid as well as internal change processes.

Operational, organisational and economic management You bear the overall responsibility for the operational, organisational and economic management of all activities of the organisation. You ensure a sustainable financing of international programme work – through diversified sources of income, strategic resource mobilisation and predictive financial and control planning. You build an organization-wide control, monitoring and report system with KPIs, performance indicators and management dashboards and continuously develop it. You continuously optimize organisational structures, governance mechanisms and cross-departmental business processes to ensure a powerful and sustainable organisation.

Quality, effectiveness and compliance You are responsible for the continuous improvement of program quality, effectiveness, compliance and accountability based on international standards.

Leadership and cooperation You lead international and intercultural teams in inspiration, appreciation and results. You promote a transparent, trusting and participative communication and leadership culture as well as constructive exchange with internal and external stakeholders.

Networks and representation You build national and international networks, partnerships and alliances and develop them strategically. You represent foreign aid to donors, partner organisations, specialist bodies, media, the public and political decision-makers in Germany and abroad.

Union representation and operational management You represent the foreign aid within the Federal Office and the overall organisation of the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe and participate in association meetings. You're taking over the emergency aid.

Qualification and experience You have completed a university degree at least on a Master level in a relevant field. You bring together several years of experience in international humanitarian aid and/or development cooperation, including in senior positions in Germany and abroad. You think and act entrepreneurially and have sound business knowledge. You have long-standing leadership experience with personnel responsibility in regulatory and crisis situations in the international environment, including the management of cross-site teams at distance. You communicate in English and German; further language skills are advantageous.
