The BBSR at the Federal Office for Building and Spatial Planning (BBR) is the Federal Institute's departmental research institute in the business area of the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB) for the areas of urban development, spatial planning, housing and construction. In addition, the BBSR implements a variety of support and investment programs in the field of climate protection and urban development. The RS 3 Unit supports European and international cooperation in the field of spatial and urban development through research, scientific policy advice, programme and project management and through exchanges with national research institutes in Europe and worldwide. This concerns both cooperation in the European Union and cooperation with institutions in neighbouring countries and selected partner countries. The ESPON project ReCoCliN “Regional Contributions to Climate Neutrality” aims to carry out quantitative analyses on greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) at regional level with the aid of satellite data and to calculate further indicators based on these. The focus is on the assessment of regional contributions to climate neutrality and spatial analysis of emission patterns. More information is available here.

Expected: enrolled student / enrolled student of the subject Geography, Geoinformatics, Meteorology, Spatial or Urban Planning or a comparable study direction What we need: Knowledge of work with space-related (vector, grid) and statistical (Geo)data

Knowledge of the processing of remote sensing and specialist data

good knowledge of the application of ArcGIS or QGIS

first knowledge of programming (Python or R)

The working time is regularly 14 hours/week. The fee is €14.54 gross per hour. The employment relationship is limited to one year.
