As Jabil Optics Germany GmbH in Jena, we are part of the world's second-largest contract manufacturer Jabil and lead in the development of opto-electro-mechanical modules for Augmented, Virtual and Mixed Reality, modern camera systems and gesture control/ 3D Sensing. In an international team, we develop innovative customer-specific solutions for globally leading brand manufacturers. Jabil employs more than 140 000 people globally. At the Optics Design Center in Jena, we develop opto-electro-mechanical design solutions for AR/VR glasses, autonomous driving (LiDAR, Driver Monitoring, ADAS camera systems, eye tracking), robotics, action cameras, smartphones, endoscopes and many other applications. We are looking for a permanent and full-time (36h week) to strengthen our development site in Jena: Lead Mechanical Designer (m/w/d)

Self-configuring mechanical/optical assemblies and components from prototypes to series design

Coordination of the tasks of product development (such as comprehensive coordination with the interfaces validation, prototype construction and system architecture)

Definition and control of specifications for external development tasks

Communication with customers, suppliers and internal departments

Preparation of production documents taking into account technical requirements

Definition and evaluation of structural simulations

Tolerance protection by software

Instructions for technical designers and employees in design and production

Drawing creation according to ISO/GPS standard

Successfully completed (specialized) university studies (Master/Diplom) in the fields of precision engineering, laser and opto technology, mechanical engineering, etc.

Comprehensive experience in the construction of mechanical/optical/electronic components/ assemblies

Comprehensive knowledge of all relevant series production methods

Knowledge PTC Creo 11 and PLM system Windchill desirable

Knowledge of “Model-Based Definition” desirable

Experience with simulation software such as Ansys/Creo Simulate desirable

Embossed communicative skills
