The Institute of Religious Education and Teacher Training in Bavaria (IRL) is a scientific institution for the theory and practice of religious education and education with a focus on religious education. The IRL is responsible for the central training for teachers of all types of school which teach Catholic religious education in Bavaria. It performs this task in coordination with the Bavarian (Erz-)Dioceseses as well as the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture (StMUK).

Representation of the Head of the Institute for Religious Education and Teacher Training Creating the half-year programmes of central training for teachers in the field of Catholic religion of all types of school taking into account the current priority programme for the Bavarian teacher training Management of the funding provided by the StMUK for the central teacher training in the Catholic religion in Bavaria Developing concepts for quality assurance of content and formats for religious education in the field of Catholic religious theory Continuing training for teachers in Catholic religious teaching Adjustment of the training offer, in particular with the seven Bavarian (Erz-) dioceseses and the IRL Education Advisory Board Cooperation and contact management with partners from state, church, universities, associations Networking work and contact care for professional speakers.

Second State Exams for the Magisterium (Cholic Religious Doctrine) or a completed academic degree (Dipl.-Univ./Master/Magister) of pedagogy (with meaningful evidence of specialist knowledge in Catholic theology) or Catholic theology, a doctorate is desirable relevant professional experience (religion lessons in an exemplary school style) with Missio canonica as well as experiences in adult education and education Experience in the design and implementation of events in the field of teacher training very good knowledge of the ecclesiastical pronouncements for religious education and the state requirements for school development and teacher training Knowledge of the different types of school and the phases of teacher training Knowledge of new forms of analogue and digital teaching and learning pronounced communication and moderation skills belonging to the Catholic Church and knowledge of ecclesial structures.
