The Alexian St. Hedwig Hospital Berlin is part of the Alexian St. Hedwig-Kliniken Berlin GmbH, an academic teaching hospital of the Charité. At two locations – in Berlin-Mitte and Treptow-Köpenick – more than 2,500 employees provide approximately 150,000 patients annually in 17 somatic and psychiatric clinics. Humans are at the centre of the psychiatry. Our goal is to accompany older people on their way to a sense-filled and as independent as possible. We work according to the Weddinger model based on multi-professional cooperation, participation and self-responsibility. Elements such as recovery, patient centering, empowerment and the integration of relatives shape our therapeutic concept. We focus on treating patients with a psychiatric condition, which additionally suffers from dependence. The double diagnosis “psychosis and addiction” is at the forefront. However, we also treat patients with dependency diseases and unipolar and bipolar-affective disorders as well as anxiety, forced, and stress-associated disorders.
