Senior R&D Engineer – Ultrasound & Sensor Systems (all genders welcome)
In this role, you drive the technological evolution of our sensor systems, focusing on robust, precise and innovative solutions for demanding industrial inspection applications. You systematically broaden the application scope of existing and new sensor concepts and enable their use in cutting-edge application scenarios. Leveraging your expertise in nondestructive testing (NDT) – spanning ultrasonic measurement technology, sensor development and intelligent inspection and data evaluation methods – you significantly influence our key development programs and future technology domains.
As an experienced team player, you work in an interdisciplinary setup with mechanics, electronics and software and take a key role along the entire product development lifecycle – from requirements definition and system architecture through to verification, validation and release. In this way, you make a substantial contribution to the development of technologically advanced and sustainable solutions.

You develop and are responsible for the technical conception and realization of the sensor systems throughout the entire development process
You translate customer and application requirements into viable system architectures, with a focus on ultrasonic technologies and state-of-the-art signal processing

You advise management on technological topics, especially sensor technologies, system platforms, and inspection applications, and their impact on our technology and product roadmap
You work closely with an interdisciplinary and international team across mechanics, electronics, and software, driving high-tech solutions for demanding applications

So you bring: Degree in natural sciences or engineering (e.g., physics, electrical engineering, mechatronics) and at least 5 years of industrial experience in developing innovative sensor systems in the NDT environment
Proven track record in system and architecture design of sensor systems, including requirements engineering, interface definition and hardware/software specification
Solid, broad-based expertise in established measurement technologies and their practical use in industrial applications like condition monitoring and non-destructive testing
Demonstrated expertise in ultrasonics (e.g., time-of-flight and echo methods, phased arrays, guided waves), including driver electronics, signal processing and typical applications
Several years of experience in the design of sensors and electronics sensor (analog frontends, A/D conversion, noise optimization, EMC-compliant design)
Familiarity with relevant standards and guidelines in measurement technology and their implementation in development projects
Experience in dealing with intellectual property (patents, freedom-to-operate analyses, IP monitoring)
In-depth market and technology knowledge to support well-founded make-or-buy decisions
