Digital Transformation Management is responsible for the management and further development of digitalization topics within the SMT (ZEISS semiconductor division). It drives the digital transformation to enable innovation and efficiency improvements, and reports directly to the SMT DTO.

Your tasks as Lead Expert Agent AI & Automation :

Strategic anchoring of Agentic AI and automation technologies: Building and establishing central, technologically demanding systems and components with a high degree of innovation

Architecture & Platform:

• Conception and development of a scalable, modular architecture for new and existing Agentic AI applications
• Selection of suitable components, definition of interfaces, as well as ensuring integration, observability, governance and wartability in the overall system
• priority for on‐prem and hybrid environments; Integration of Azure Services in cooperation with ZEISS Digital Partners

Agent orchestration & Guardrails: Introduction of agent orchestration, workflow automation and established guardrails throughout the lifecycle

Use synergies: Bundling and consolidating existing initiatives to promote business-wide exchange, raise potential and avoid double structures

Enablement & Consulting: Support and advice from employees in the development of new Agentic AI solutions – from idea finding to secure implementation

Community Building: Establishing, maintaining and moderating an internal agentic AI community for knowledge transfer and promoting an open innovation dialogue

Technical development & integration: Monitoring and integration of pilot projects with scaling potential – both on‐prem and hybrid – always taking into account: relevant security policies, data protection requirements, company-specific IP requirements

Collaboration in the Matrix Organisation: Close coordination with IT operation, software development, enterprise architecture management and IT security; Use of existing bodies (e.g. Enterprise Architecture Mgmt Board, Data Governance Board, IT Security) and proposal of new bodies where appropriate

Education: University degree in an appropriate natural science (e.g. computer science, mathematics, physics) or an engineering science (e.g. mechanical engineering, electrical engineering) or comparable discipline Professional experience: many years of professional experience in AI/automatic architectures and platform construction

of which at least several years with focus on LLMs/Generative AI and the introduction of agent orchestration (including tool integration and workflow automation)

detectable expertise in the design and implementation of complex Agentic-AI solutions, ideally in on‐prem/hybrid environments in industrial companies

well-founded knowledge in handling IP-specific requirements, data protection and security policies related to AI and automation technologies

broad expertise and experience in relevant disciplines such as Machine Learning, Generative AI (GenAI) and Agentic-AI Frameworks and Patterns, Orchestration and Knowledge Graphs

Other knowledge – Technological skills: deep knowledge of Python and C#/.NET as well as relevant frameworks and tools for agentic orchestration and workflows (e.g. LangChain, LlamaIndex, Autogen, CrewAI, Temporal, Airflow) as well as Guardrails and Observability

Experience in the construction and operation of Agentic AI/Automation Platforms and Ecosystems

DevOp's knowledge of hybrid infrastructure models with Docker, Kubernetes

comprehensive know-how in on-prem and hybrid infrastructure models; active collaboration with ZEISS Digital Partners for cloud integrations

Personal skills: excellent communication skills in German and English

high social competence and a pronounced ability to lateral guidance and stakeholder management in a matrix organization
