For the winter semester 2025/26, we occupy a professorship (m/w/d) in the course of studies in tourism management, limited to 2 years in full or part-time, with the start of 01.10.2025. Choose between one of our vacancies: Bielefeld, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Karlsruhe, Cologne, Leipzig or Stuttgart.

You represent the field of tourism management in teaching and research in the practice-integrated bachelor's programme in presence at our IU campus, and you will jointly train the new generation of professionals (see the module guide for more insights). You prepare and conduct lectures and are responsible for the individual support of our dual students during their examinations and during the preparation of their final work.

You are able to train our students in the following areas: project management, digital business models, sustainability and quality management in tourism, destination management, applied research and current topics and developments in tourism.

You are involved in the creative development of teaching formats within the didactic concept of IU for dual study and develop this in collegial cooperation.

Mediating practical content and sharing knowledge to the next generation – this is the approach of the IU International University. Therefore, a:e expert is being sought in the field of tourism management, which is distinguished by previous professional practice in, for example, travel provider and travel distribution management, event management or hotel management, and also has scientific expertise and didactic skills to contribute to the teaching at the IU. You have completed a university degree in the field of tourism management or a reference and neighboring discipline with outstanding achievements and can present a relevant doctorate.

You have more than five years of professional experience, of which three years outside the university and have preferably already gained experience in teaching.

You can demonstrate your expertise in relevant topics through relevant publications or projects.

You work in a team-oriented and reliable manner, in addition you focus on the teaching of presence, but you also master the performance of virtual courses.

You have German knowledge at C2 level of the European Framework of Reference.

The prerequisites for recruitment are governed by the Higher Education Act of the State of Thuringia.
