Under the name Pentatonic®, the company develops lightweight and robust battery housing and underbody protection systems for electric vehicles that meet high safety, efficiency, costs and sustainability requirements. In addition, Kautex Textron is the leading manufacturer of plastic-based fuel tanks and ADAS cleaning systems for the automotive industry. As part of the material development for new product generations, Kautex is currently investigating particle foams such as expanded polypropylene (EPP), which offers great potential for use in Pentatonic® systems due to its outstanding damping properties, low density and good recyclability. Objective & Content of the final work: The aim of the work is to investigate the systematic comparison of the most relevant processing methods for (EPP) particle foams with regard to suitability for the production of components for Pentatonic® battery and underbody protection systems: • Research and initial comparison of processing technologies and material types • Production and testing of test specimens and sample components in selected processing technologies • Final evaluation of the potential for Pentatonic® applications produced in injection molding or pressing • Technical documentation and presentation of work results

Qualification: enrolled in a course with the subject of plastics technology/processing, lightweight construction, materials science or comparable Interest in lightweight construction, innovative materials and electric mobility Knowledge of battery technology and composite materials are advantageous Analytical skills and ability to work independently Good knowledge of German and English JOBV1_EN
