In the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, at the Chair of Astroparticle Physics, we are looking for support.

• As a postdoctoral student, you are working on the further development and data evaluation of the Pierre-Auger Observatory, the world's largest observatory for high-energy cosmic radiation. You benefit from close cooperation with world leaders in Germany and abroad
• The research project focuses on the propagation of high-energy cosmic radiation over intergalactic distances and the stronic and neutrino-generating interactions taking place.
• The preparation and presentation of research notes, conference contributions and peer-reviewed publications are a regular part of the research work

• Above-average academic studies and doctorate in physics
• Extensive knowledge of stronical interactions at highest energies
• Extensive experience with Monte Carlo methods and relevant event generators
• previous knowledge of particle or astroparticle physics, in particular in the field of particle physics interactions
• Good knowledge of object-oriented programming, e.g. in the languages C++ and Python
• Very good English skills
• Interest in team work in an international environment

It is a qualification body within the meaning of the Science Time Contract Act (WissZeitVG), which can be employed to promote the following scientific or artistic qualification: acquiring professional experience in the implementation of the project “Auger”. The duration of the employment contract will be adequately designed for the desired scientific qualification.
