As a design mechanic (m/w/d) on our shipyard, you are washed with all the water: you work with many different, often huge machines to produce ship components. In the following tasks you can use your learned skills: You manufacture and assemble various components to sections and repair ships. This requires, above all, skills and bowls – so we give you the right tools and techniques. You learn the basics of metal technology to produce and assemble ship components. You can also create your own technical documentation. After completing the courses in welding and cutting, you are fit for shipbuilding and let the sparks spray.

How to get you on board Once you master the basics of metal technology, you will learn to read construction drawings and line plans to work out ship components independently. You also carefully create your own technical documents such as sketches, dimensional sheets and templates for production. Safe handling of large machines such as presses, rolls or chip bending machines is another important part of your training. Vocational school: You will learn the theoretical foundations at the RBZ in Kiel. duration of training: The training lasts 3.5 years (can be shortened to 3 years with good performance) The very attractive training allowance depends on the collective agreement of the metal and electrical industry. Currently: 1st year: 1.373 Euro gross per month Two. Year: 1.408 Euro gross per month 3. Year: 1.443 Euro gross per month 4. Did you know that during your training you can not only gain valuable practical experience, but also acquire the middle school degree (MSA). If you reach a grade average of at least 3.0 in your professional school, prove good foreign language skills and successfully complete your training, your vocational school degree will be recognized as equivalent to the MSA. This means you can acquire the MSA directly in training without having to complete additional school years – a great way to hit two flies with one flap!
