PhD (m,f,x) until 31.08.2029 (end of the DFG Project – GaAs Quantum Dots: from Form to Function), 29,7825 hours per week, TVL E13 The Epitaxy section of Experimental Physics VI at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is looking for motivated researchers to join our team.We are bridging the gap between fundamental solid-state physics and scalable quantum devices. Whether it's turning Quantum Dots (QDs) into transducers or building entangled photon clusters, our work starts with one thing: perfect crystals. Using advanced growth and techniques spectroscopy to characterize and functionalize GaAs QDs The Ruhr-Universität Bochum is one of Germany's leading research universities, addressing the whole range of academic disciplines. A highly dynamic setting researchers and students to work across the traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties. To create knowledge networks within and beyond the university is Ruhr-Universität Bochum's declared aim. .

Your tasks: In this project, Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) is our primary tool. You won't just be an observer; you will be an architect of matter. Your responsibilities include: Designing and growing high-quality semiconductor heterostructures. Developing new epitaxial methods for strain-free and lattice-mismatched films. Characterizing your samples and interpreting complex data. Hands-on Engineering: Building, maintaining, and improving our established and state-of-the-art vacuum setups. If you enjoy 'getting your hands dirty' with high-end tech, you'll fit right in.

Your profile: You hold a Master's degree in (Solid-State) or related engineering. You are eager to dive deep into a 3-year research journey. Skills: Experience in vacuum technology, epitaxy, or device processing is a big plus, but self-motivation and a 'problem-solver' mindset are mandatory. Communication: You are a team player who can cooperate with international top-tier research groups.
