Specialist in geodata and wave data modelling for our hydrology

We make port: With great passion, we keep running the infrastructure of the Port of Hamburg around the clock. We are more than 1,900 HPA colleagues who drive forward advanced ideas to develop Hamburg's heart and make the port a bit more sustainable every day. Hydrology is a contact person for all water-related issues related to the port and the Elbe. Our range of tasks includes scientifically sound hydrological advice of all kinds, for example the recommendation of hydrological dimensions and the determination of the effects of water-based measures in the Port of Hamburg on the tide regime of the Elbe.

Hydrology requires new wave data sheets as a basis for determining the required nominal heights and static loads on pole walls. For this project we need a specialist (m/w/d) for geodata and wave data modeling for 3 years.

You are responsible for setting up, testing and developing structured and unstructured model grids You are responsible for carrying out and evaluating numerical simulations with the wave model SWAN for determining wave parameters for private flood protection You are responsible for plausibility and validation of model results with existing measurement data In addition, you take over the preparation and documentation by writing a manual of model assumptions and building a database information system

You have a degree in geoinformatics, geography, survey engineering, cartography, hydrography or comparable You can demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and experience in geoinformation and geodata infrastructures (data types, data structures, data management) You have a safe handling of ArcGIS from ESRI, preferably ArcGIS Pro, focusing on geodata acquisition, and management. Knowledge of QGIS is desirable You describe your way of working as a structured and independent with a quick understanding Team-playermentality, negotiation skills and creativity complete your profile
