Completed university studies (Master, Magister, Diploma) in the field of pedagogy, education, education management or a comparable discipline Multiannual professional experience in adult education Multiannual experience in a management function with personal responsibility, preferably in a national university or comparable educational institution Important competences: Leadership with a cooperative and value-adding approach High social competence, critique and pronounced communication strength Strategic and analytical thinking for the further development of the Volkshochschule Experience in networking and cooperation with relevant actors Persuasive power in arguments, presentations and moderations Competence in change processes and openness for innovation Technical, methodological, digital and media competence Conceptual thinking and pronounced organizational capacity Ready to use even outside the usual working hours (evening and weekends)

The Volkshochschule Norderstedt is a central actor of social life as a municipal training institution. With over 800 events each year, 22,000 lessons and 8,000 staff, it offers a wide range of educational opportunities for around 85,000 inhabitants of Norderstedt as well as the surrounding area. The team consists of nine primary-vocational pedagogical staff, 16 administrative staff and about 250 secondary-vocational teachers. With the planned “Bildungshaus” – a new building project that has been observed nationwide – an innovative educational and cultural location is created, a third place in which Volkshochschule, Stadtbücherei and Stadtarchiv jointly set new impulses. The management of the Volkshochschule takes on a demanding and responsible task: It manages a large educational institution, develops pioneering concepts and actively promotes its passion for lifelong learning and social issues. The main tasks of the job are: General responsibility for the educational, organizational and economic management of the Volkshochschule Strategic development of the Volkshochschule taking into account social and educational challenges (e.g. digitalization, integration, demography, inclusion, sustainability) Motivating leadership and targeted personnel development of a dedicated team Creation and management of the budget with a clear view to economic viability Acquisition and administration of funding at local, regional, federal and EU level Networking and cooperation with local and regional actors, in particular from culture and education Acquisition of new target groups through innovative and needs-oriented educational opportunities Representation of the Volkshochschule in the city administration, in political bodies and outside Co-operation and management of special projects that further develop VHS education Visionary co-design and implementation of the “Bildungshaus” – a unique new building project for Volkshochschule, Stadtarchiv and Stadtbücherei Close coordination with the administration and other competent authorities within the city administration for the strategic and operational management of the Volkshochschule Sounds like a challenge for you?
