Professorship (W3) of Pathology

The professorship is associated with the management of the Institute for Pathology at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus. Within the University Medicine Dresden, the Institute represents the entire spectrum of the discipline of pathology and can look back on decades of scientific and clinical experience. As part of the medical care, a large number of incoming heistologies of the university clinic and some instructors are processed in the institute accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020 (15189). Associated with the management of the institute the function of the director or director of the tumor and normal tissue bank (TNTB) / BioBank Dresden at the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT/UCC), Head of the Centre for Personalized Medicine in Oncology (ZPMO) together with the departments of Translational Internalist Oncology and Clinical Genetics, and the management of the Core Unit for Molecular Tumor Diagnostics/CMTD at the NCT site in Dresden (together with the Clinical Genetics). The professorship is interdisciplinary and networked both within the faculty and the university and beyond university boundaries. The professorship is also involved in academic self-government and contributes to bodies of the Faculty of Medicine.

Ideally, you (m/w/d) are already known nationally and internationally as a research personality in pathology through your successful, internationally visible publication activity and have experience in the recruitment of third-party funds including research associations (e.g. SFBs, research centres). You possess profound, long-term expertise in the entire spectrum of pathology. We place particular emphasis on your knowledge of tumor pathology and molecular pathology. With regard to the digitalization of the institute, we wish to experience digital pathology and the application of innovative AI applications. In addition, we wish you an interdisciplinary cooperation with the various structural units within the University Hospital and the Medical Faculty to strengthen the clinical and scientific profile of the Institute.
