The main tasks are the implementation of construction measures by the Federal Government, in particular for the constitutional bodies and for the ministries in Berlin, Bonn and abroad as well as for the cultural structures of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz in Berlin. The BA I 5 unit performs the tasks of project management in Africa and the Middle East. Construction measures for firms and residences of German embassies as well as Goethe-Institutes and other cultural institutions of these regions are among the tasks of the unit.

The weekly working hours are 39 hours per week for employees and 41 hours per week for employees.
