As the largest media house in Central Germany, Mitteldeutsche Rundfunk (MDR) stands for an independent, diverse online, TV and radio offering as well as for a unique, lively coexistence. In the MDR, the process for bringing together the two program directors Halle and Leipzig started. As part of the merger of our program directors Halle and Leipzig, we are looking for 01. You bear the overall responsibility for the development, planning, editorial and production of the contents of the program director Halle-Leipzig – for linear, non-linear and digital playback paths of the MDR. These include, in particular, the deliveries for the ARD community programs and the associated online offers. You decisively shape the journalistic profile of the program director. You control the digital transformation of all areas of the program directorship and actively design the MDR as a modern, journalistic and public-law media house. You know the regional topics and needs and strengthen the cooperation and networking of the programme director with the state radio houses in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. You are responsible for the overall human and economic responsibility for the programme director Halle-Leipzig as well as for the community offerings – always with a view to the strategic objectives of the MDR. You represent the MDR in various bodies and bodies of the MDR and the ARD and actively introduce the perspectives, experiences and views of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia into the nationwide programmes. You ensure compliance with all legal requirements, programmable principles and internal guidelines within your area of responsibility. You maintain close, trusting cooperation with the creative industry, especially in Central Germany, and promote innovative partnerships beyond the region. As a programmatic leader, you represent the MDR engaged and strong, work collegially in the board and report directly to the intendants.

You have completed university studies in the field of journalism, media science or comparable qualifications. In addition, you will bring well-founded professional and leadership experience – ideally from a public or private media company. An excellent general education as well as a deep understanding of international, European and national contexts, as well as sound knowledge of the political and economic situation and the cultural and regional peculiarities in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. Found editorial expertise: You have several years of experience in broadcasting in the fields of audio, video and online, as well as expertise on current developments in the media sector, including digital media and channels. Strategic programme understanding: You have extensive experience in the content development of program strategies across all media genres. Their work is characterized by the production of innovative formats and journalistic contributions with regional reference to Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. Media-political know-how: You possess sound knowledge of media policy, including in the MDR broadcasting area, and understand the relevant political and social framework conditions. Leadership with vision: Their excellent analytical and conceptual skills combine with strong leadership, empathy and team orientation. Manager with innovative strength: You bring a high level of initiative, reliability and flexibility. Your communication strength, your experience in transformation processes as well as your solution-oriented and creative approach characterize you. You will bring knowledge of private broadcasting. Safe appearance and regional connection: You appear convincing and sovereign. Your food point is ideally located in the MDR dispatch area, preferably in the Halle/Leipzig region
