OTA / ORU Expert* Software Integration

In your role, you take the professional responsibility for online remote updates (ORU / OTA) over the entire life cycle - from conception to stable operation in the vehicle. The planning, implementation and continuous development of remote update strategies for control units, domains and entire vehicles is one of your central tasks. You are also responsible for the integration of ORU systems in SIL, HiL and vehicle testing environments and ensure their reliable function. An essential part of your activity is securing update processes. These include thought-out rollback, recovery and fallback mechanisms as well as continuous analysis and correction of update, integration and system errors. In addition, you work on defining and developing ORU processes as well as security and release concepts. Close cooperation with software development, cybersecurity, testing, operation and IT is an integral part of your daily work. As a technical contact for ORU topics, you actively contribute your know-how to projects and forums and support releases, acceptances and preparation for series use. At the same time, you drive the internal knowledge building ahead and actively share your knowledge in the team.

You have completed your studies in the field of computer science, electrical engineering, vehicle technology, or a comparable qualification and brings several years of experience in the handling of OTA, ORU or software update systems in the automotive environment. A very good understanding of ECU architectures, update mechanisms and their dependencies is the basis of your work. You are also familiar with automotive bus systems and communication protocols such as DoIP or ADB and securely employs common analysis tools such as Wireshark or Chipmunk. Experience in SIL, HiL or vECU test environments as well as knowledge of flash, boot loader, update and diagnostic concepts are also part of your profile. Ideally, you have already worked with OTA platforms, backend connections or update frameworks. Knowledge in SOVD is advantageous. In addition, you bring a basic understanding of cybersecurity issues such as certificates, signing and encryption. In addition, knowledge of SomeIP and programming experience in C++, C#, Python or other script languages are helpful. Experience with CI/CD-related processes in the software and update environment as well as knowledge in the VW concert environment or an ISTQB certification complete your profile. A structured, analytical way of working, a pronounced sense of quality and safety as well as very good knowledge of German and good English are required.
