Software Architect (m/w/d) – Robotics & Embedded Systems (Python / Embedded Linux / IoT)

In this position, you will become part of our Electronics & Embedded Systems technology division and support our Water Line Integrity Solutions division from the Embedded Systems division. The focus is on the development of advanced technologies for checking and ensuring the integrity of water pipeline networks. This helps to make more efficient use of the limited resource water and makes an important contribution to sustainability and environmental protection.

You develop the existing robot architecture and implement the architecture on the embedded Linux devices. For this you mainly use Python

You coordinate work with embedded software developers in the parts of architecture that are implemented on embedded microcontrollers

You are responsible for coordinating the development of interfaces with other teams. To do this, you tune with the electronics and other developers from the Electronics Team and represent the position of the team towards other teams such as App Development and Cloud Software

You support the entire development team in the development work by introducing your multi-year experience in software development

You have a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Technical Informatics or a comparable qualification

You have extensive experience in software development, in particular with Python as well as knowledge about network protocols (especially HTTP/REST, DHCP, MQTT, DNS)

You bring knowledge with communication and bus systems such as I2C, Ethernet and IoT technologies

You can handle both Windows and Linux system. Experiences in the embedded Linux environment are beneficial as well as first experiences with ROS desirable

You have an understanding of self-describing systems and the integration of subfunctions into an overall function and have gained experience with the design of system and software architectures. Ideally, you know documentation approaches like arc42 and you know you with model-based work (e.g. SysML)

You have fun communicating, presenting and sharing architecture with other colleagues about possible solutions

You have basic knowledge of electronics development and can exchange yourself well with colleagues from this area

You like to moderate solution rooms, work with assumptions, bring creativity and can convey complex structures visually and understandably
