Become part of our global team: You make the difference – YOU MAKE US As a central planning area at the Leinfelden site, we are engaged in new production technologies for the global Daimler Trucks production sites. The focus is in particular on the processes of vehicle assembly. As part of the ever-progressing digitalization, these areas of production are facing complex challenges. The increasing product variance and increased requirements for flexibility and changeability require the use of new technologies from a variety of disciplines such as robotics, artificial intelligence and digitalization. New and innovative methods, concepts and technologies enable a technological transformation process towards fluid production. In order to prepare this way, the “Smart Automation” team at Daimler Trucks is currently working on solutions to implement various technologies to support people in the production processes. The development of these systems takes place essentially in cooperation with start-ups as well as partners from research and industry at the research factory ARENA2036. If you are motivated and committed and you can imagine challenging tasks as part of a mandatory or combination internship, then we would love to meet you. You can start with us from March/April 2025. Your working time will be 35 hours a week. You can help us with the following topics: Support in the development of computer vision solutions for quality control (anomaly detection, object classification) Implementation of vision-based solutions for robot arm control and object tracking/manipulation Participation in testing, validation and maintenance of the implemented solutions Participation in technology and start-up screening and production of technical/economic comparisons Planning, construction and implementation of experiments with robot systems in the ARENA2036 research factory Construction and programming of robot demonstration applications (Universal Robots, FANUC)

You should bring the following: Studies Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a comparable degree programme Programming skills in Python Basic knowledge of Computer Vision and Robotics Secure knowledge of German and English Very good handling of MS-Office Commitment, self-employment and team skills Analytical way of thinking, strategic and independent working/problem-solving competence Good communication and documentation skills Great would be the following knowledge: Knowledge of C++ Experience with Git and ROS (Robot Operating System) Practical experience with ML-frameworks (PyTorch) Previous knowledge of programming or operation of robots (e.g. UR, FANUC, KUKA) Additional information: Of course, without formalities, we are not.
