The capital of Düsseldorf is one of Germany's strong and economically important cities. A powerful, secure and sustainable mobility is a key factor in quality of life, climate protection and economic development.

The Office for Transport Management is responsible for essential tasks of transport planning, road and engineering, as well as transport technology in the capital of Düsseldorf. With around 400 jobs and an annual financial volume of around 200 million euros, it is one of the largest technical offices in the city administration and makes an important contribution to the further development of efficient and city-compatible mobility. In addition, the Office is shaping key future topics such as mobility change, the promotion of cycling and foot traffic, the improvement of air quality and the design of attractive public spaces.

For this demanding and socially highly relevant task, the Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf is looking for a convincing leadership personality as the head of the Transport Management Office.

You significantly contribute to the mobility development of one of the most dynamic cities in Germany, set strategic impulses and lead a powerful organization through the challenges and opportunities of the mobility transition. You understand how to reconcile different professional, political and social interests and to develop and implement sustainable solutions for the mobility and transport development of the Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf together with your employees. As an official management, you will bring together the various departments of the Office with their different tasks and ensure an economic, efficient and citizen-oriented task. You represent the interests of your office convincingly towards politics, administration, citizenship and external partners.

An experienced management personality is sought, which leads a professionally broad office with around 400 employees in a targeted manner and strategically develops. You have the ability to control complex projects and processes, to set priorities. Even in demanding situations, you make reliable decisions and implement them productively.

To be able to take over this position, you must meet the following criteria: Occupation: Qualification for the second entry office of category 2 of general or technical administrative services Employees: a completed university degree with technical orientation Knowledge of transport Experience in managing large and complex planning or construction projects Multiannual leadership experience in interdisciplinary, multidimensional structures Multiannual professional experience in a corresponding area of responsibility in a public administration or at the interface to the public service (for example as an engineering office or service provider*in) Experience in dealing with political bodies and a good understanding of municipal decision-making processes are advantageous

Adjustment takes place in an indefinite working relationship. Since this is an assessment exceeding the highest remuneration group of the public service collective agreement (TVöD), the conclusion of an out-of-tariff contract is necessary. In the event of the conditions under which the railway is subject, an employment in the civil service (BesGr B2 LBesO) is possible.
