Project Coordinator Water Development

The NABU Institute for Flow and Auenecology (IFA) is a groundbreaking centre of competence that has dedicated itself to renaturing our local waters. As part of various river projects, we are actively engaged in the protection and sustainable development of rivers, aureas and wetlands – ecosystems that are among the most threatened in Central Europe. You transform predefined project ideas into an effective portfolio of concrete measures for water development and water retention – making a noticeable contribution to living, resilient landscapes. By accompanying selected measures to the implementation, you make sure that concepts will make real changes for water, nature and climate.

Project concepts for water development - You develop sustainable project concepts for water development from existing ideas and derive effective measures from this – from technical research to cost calculations to clear, consistent action catalogues. Project concepts Water retention - You bring project ideas to the water retention on the road by working out concepts, combining existing preparatory work and developing an effective portfolio of concrete measures to improve water retention. Coordination & Cooperation - You design projects together with various stakeholders, formulate concepts with authorities, NGOs and local actors and ensure sustainable solutions and broad acceptance for appointments – also on site. Funding & Funding - You keep the financing in mind and assist in securing funding, for example through funding applications or cooperation with partners. Project support & implementation - After the funding announcement, you will accompany projects until implementation, tax tenders and awards, check services and finances and provide timetables, maps and permits for a smooth project.

You bring at least two years of professional experience in an engineering profession and are experienced in planning, controlling and safely accompanying projects through licensing procedures. You like to work in direct local exchange and want to develop consensive nature conservation projects together with authorities, local stakeholders and land owners. You have good GIS knowledge and are sure to handle HOAI as well as relevant procurement regulations (e.g. UVgO, VOB). Very good knowledge of German in word and writing, safe appearance and a class B driving licence complete your profile. Ideally, you bring expertise in the renaturation of wetlands, in water retention, in the rebuilding of melioration systems and/or in‐stream measures, and have experience in the application for funding projects.
