Project Chief Engineer Satellite Communications (m/f/d)

Your mission As a Project Chief Engineer, you take over the overall technical responsibility for complex space projects with a focus on satellite flooring. You lead interdisciplinary engineering teams, make technical key decisions and make sure that architecture, design, development, integration, testing and handover to the operation are carried out according to the highest technical standards. You act as a technical manager on project levels – with final technical decision-making authority – and work closely with the program management, project management, customers, suppliers and internal departments. Your duties End-to-end technical line of the ground segment: ground stations, antennas, RF-Chain, gateways, networks, virtualization, MOC/NOC/SOC, operating and monitoring software Ensuring compliance with ECSS, qualification and safety standards Final technical decision authority in the project. Definition, maintenance and further development of the system and ground segment architecture. Definition of system requirements, top-level designs and interfaces. Responsibility for requirements engineering, integration, verification & validation (IV&V) Planning of technical work packages incl. Time, costs and resources Identification of technical risks and implementation of countermeasures Control of design and development progress Head of multidisciplinary engineering teams (RF, IT, SW, Network, System) Perform regular technical reviews, checkpoints and engineering change boards internally, with customers and suppliers Technical interface to customers, suppliers and internal areas Preparation and management of commissioning phases Close cooperation with operations for transfer to operation

Complete studies in space technology, electrical engineering, computer science, physics or similar engineering Multiannual professional experience in ground segment engineering and technical management of large space projects as well as in the handling of contracting entities Deep understanding of distributed, safety-critical space infrastructures Found experience in multiple system engineering disciplines (e.g. system design, interface engineering, verification/validation, mission operations) Outstanding analytical skills and technical problem solving competence Structured, decision-making – even under time pressure Strong communication skills and natural technical authority
