As Head of Software Development, you play a key technological role and are responsible for the development, integration and long-term operation of our central software platform. Together with your team, you will transfer validated concepts and AI solutions to stable, scalable and market-ready products and continuously develop our software architecture and engineering processes. You are responsible for the “how” of technological implementation – from software architecture, cloud, backend and frontend to devOps and testing to rollout, operation and continuous development. In close cooperation with the Head of AI & Digital Transformation, which is responsible for strategy, use cases and validated AI concepts, you will ensure that reliable and long-term software products are created from innovative ideas.

Your tasks

Professional and disciplinary leadership as well as further development of the software development team and establishing a modern, powerful and quality-oriented engineering culture Development and implementation of our software strategy and the technological roadmap for the central software platform in close coordination with the management and relevant departments Responsibility for the entire software life cycle – from architecture and development to testing, field testing and rollout to stable operation and continuous improvement Conception and further development of scalable, secure and long-term predictable software architecture based on modern cloud, backend, front end, edge and embedded technologies as well as microservices and APIs Responsibility for cloud and containerized platforms as well as modern orchestration and deployment solutions, in particular with Kubernetes and Docker Productization and integration of new technologies and validated AI solutions into stable, scalable and market-ready software products in close cooperation with the Head of AI & Digital Transformation Ensuring high standards of software quality, testing automation, CI/CD, monitoring, DevOps/DevSecOps, security, stability and wartability Development of engineering standards, development processes and best practices, as well as promotion of the team in handling modern technologies, programming languages and frameworks Introduction and further development of AI-assisted development processes and tools, for example for coding, code reviews, test generation and documentation, with the aim of sustainably increasing quality and development speed Close cooperation with management, AI & Digital Transformation, product development and other areas of expertise to prioritise technological requirements and reliably transfer them to ready-to-use and market solutions

Complete study of computer science, software technology or a comparable qualification Multiannual relevant professional experience in software development, software architecture or platform development, ideally with responsibility for complex and productively used software solutions Leadership experience and joy in developing development teams professionally and personally as well as creating a powerful engineering culture Understanding modern software architectures, microservices, APIs and cloud and edge platforms Found experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Monitoring and DevOps or DevSecOps processes Very good knowledge of modern backend, API and web development as well as practical experience with relevant programming languages and frameworks Experience with AI-assisted development tools and a good understanding of how these can be integrated in modern software engineering processes in a sensible and secure way. Embossed understanding of software quality, scalability, security, performance and long-term viability Ability to prepare technological requirements and complex relationships for management and departments in a comprehensible and decision-oriented manner Strategic and analytical thinking combined with hands-on mentality, high quality standards and pronounced implementation strength
