As a Cloud Platform Engineer (m/w/d), you take responsibility for our AWS platform and the ongoing migration of the existing IONOS infrastructure into a modern, automatable cloud environment.

The AWS platform is already built into considerable parts, central architectural decisions are taken and documented. In parallel, we operate an extensive IONOS property landscape with around 65 VMs, increased network topology and several VPN routes, which will be transferred step by step to AWS in the coming months. In this hybrid phase, you work closely with the Platform Team and actively shape the target architecture.

Your tasks To support our IT team, we are looking for a dedicated Cloud Platform Engineer (m/w/d) for our location in Föhren at the next time. The position is executed in presence, it is not a remote location.

Operation and further development of the AWS platform across multiple AWS accounts (Sandbox, Development, Staging, Production, Shared) as part of an AWS Organization Conception, implementation and maintenance of infrastructure as a code with OpenTofu (alternative terrain) Operation of Amazon EKS (Auto Mode) including Argo CD, helmet and GitOps-based deployment Construction and operation of secure network architectures: Amazon VPC, Routing, Application Load Balancer, Site-to-Site VPN (IPsec), AWS Client VPN, OPNsense Migration of workloads, databases and network connections from the existing IONOS environment to AWS Connection and operation of the IoT landscape (camera towers, sensors) via AWS IoT Core and associated backend services Working with CI/CD pipelines based on GitHub Actions, including Container Security with Trivy and Image Distribution via Amazon ECR Identity and access management with AWS IAM, AWS IAM Identity Center and Microsoft Entra ID (SSO, SCIM) Structure of Data Services: Amazon RDS (PostgreSQL), Amazon ElastiCache for Valkey, Amazon S3 Creating and maintaining architecture specifications, research analyses, runbooks and postmortems in our knowledge database — with us an independent component of engineering work, not a by-product Participation in readiness for production systems

Multiannual practical experience in building and operating productive AWS environments Solid knowledge in Infrastructure as Code with OpenTofu or Terraform — not only ''a few modules written'', but module design, state management, reusability Practical experience with Kubernetes on AWS (EKS), ideally with GitOps workflows (Argo CD or Flux) Understanding TCP/IP networks, routing and VPN technologies (IPsec, WireGuard or comparable) at a level that makes a grown hybrid environment manageable Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or comparable) and container workflows Secure handling of Linux on the command line Very good German knowledge (at least B2) for team communication and internal documentation. Good knowledge of English as the manufacturer documentation (AWS, Kubernetes, Argo CD and many more) is available almost exclusively in English Willingness and ability to maintain technical research, architectural decisions and operational processes structured in writing Self-working and willingness to work in parallel in a migration phase with growing stock systems and clean new systems

Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, SSO and SCIM revision Knowledge of PostgreSQL and Database Migration Experience with AWS IoT Core or comparable MQTT-based IoT backends Experience with OPNsense or comparable open source firewall platforms BGP experience (e.g. FRR) for site-to-site connectivity Experience with Container Security Scanning (Trivy o. ä.)
