The Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) is a federal scientific and technical authority based in Berlin. As a departmental research institution of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, we examine and advise on the protection of people, the environment and property. Our activities in materials science, materials technology and chemistry focus on the technical safety of products and processes.

The department ''Thermochemical Residual Material Treatment and Recovery'' operates a thermal process technology in Berlin Adlershof. The research of the department is aimed at developing processes that can recover valuable and partly critical raw materials from waste. For this purpose, many different thermal aggregates such as chamber furnaces, tubular furnaces, rotary kilns, fluidized bed, induction furnace and arc furnace are operated. Some of the furnaces operate on a pilot scale in the range of 100 kg/h throughput. One focus of the work is the development of climate-neutral processes, among other things by using hydrogen as a reducing agent.

General organization in the technical area Accompanying experiments on various furnaces in the technical and support of scientists Pre- and post-processing of test series in close cooperation with scientists Participation in melting tests on the small-scale arc furnace Reconstruction of the arc furnace Instruction of new MA in the handling of technical devices Maintenance and maintenance of technical equipment

Successfully completed vocational training as an electronic engineer, industrial mechanic, or in a comparable field Experience in handling furnaces desirable Experience in the processing of test series desirable Electrotechnical knowledge required Handicraft skill and talent required for handling technical processes Good communication and information behavior, targeted and structured working methods, team skills and cooperation readiness, loadability and reliability
